  • Overview

    In line with the CIP and PME strategy, vision and priorities, the Head of Operational Intelligence main responsibility are to develop and communicate the strategic vision, scope and mission of the OI function. The leader will be accountable for ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services and the achievement of key driver targets as well as expanding our team’s data science and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities by expanding the skill set of the current team and hiring and developing new talent. Business intelligence comprised of industry scanning in the areas of customer needs/trends and competitive assessment/analysis is used to create insight that is directional in operational strategy development. Equipped with these capabilities, this team will transform a rich repository of existing data into insights – ultimately driving solutions that will help our operations to be more productive and profitable.


    • Communicate and maintain trust relationships with stakeholders (corporate, regional and country level), team members and other business partners.
    • Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of direct reports team providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance.
    • Advocate for data-driven decisions, strong data governance, and other initiatives.
    • Lead strategically focused analytics to drive business insights leading to customer-facing solutions, unlock new solutions and services for CIP and PME services.
    • Co-stablishing objectives for CIP and PME; creating industry and/or other industry relevant performance benchmarks for regional and country structures and identifying potential business opportunities.
    • Provides research, performance information and best practice sharing with our Key Account Managers, enhancing the management of the entire account portfolio. Through the insight work, she/he contributes to the development of long-range and strategic plans and the evaluation and implementation of programs, tools, as well as products.
    • Responsible for providing analytical support on business results and tracking financial targets and preparing management summaries and presentations for the CIP and PME leadership as well as the group ExCo representative of the G&P function (for both ad-hoc reporting and data quality projects).
    • Guide the design and implementation of simple, robust, flexible "story telling" dashboards that transform massive amounts of data into actionable business insights. 
    • Own the analytics function for CIP and PME, be accountable for driving both strategic analytics and overall data architecture design/implementation. 
    • Responsible to lead and drive the designing and establishing of long term strategic planning and budgeting processes, models and assumptions for corporate CIP and PME.
    • Owns the process of developing strategic annual plans based on industry and consumer insights, this in cooperation with department and team leads.
    • Creates and maintains detailed and accurate financial models that allow for short and long-term business valuations.
    • Along with the CIP and PME leadership team, serve as primary contact to provide data and analysis or assist top management on any strategic corporate activity as appropriate.


    • University Degree; preferably a Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. engineering, business, economics, finance, statistics, and analytics).


    • Proven experience in managerial position /or with clear potential to grow into it fast.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
    • Experience with multivariate testing tools such as Optimizely as well as SQL and relational database experience.

    • Demonstrated strategic thinking through a proven ability to analyze markets, performance data, and business issues and draw insight/conclusions.
    • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required to build relationships across business units for collaboration, data requests, and joint analysis.
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to address all levels within the organization to drive consensus.
    • Demonstrated understanding of building materials, in particular the cement industry dynamics and economics.
    • Familiarity of external data sources and ability to effectively use them to reach necessary conclusions.
    • Demonstrated ability to initiate and direct multiple project assignments in a relatively unstructured environment.
    • Ability to translate business questions into problems solvable using analytics tools, and enjoy converting the results of your analyses into visual stories tailored to the needs of the audience.

    • Working knowledge of digital attribution (data collection, tagging management, data integrity, advanced analytics & reporting)

    Language Requirements

    Proficiency in write and spoken English is a must, good knowledge of German, Spanish and/or French is big plus.

    Travel Requirements

    The position will required national and international traveling of up to 30%.
